INTRODUCTION
The
Center
for Studies and Research on Women (C.S.A.R.O.W.) was created on April 23,
1998 at the Faculty of Letters Dhar El Mehraz, Fès, Morocco, by a
group of Moroccan women academics from various departments of the
same faculty. The Center is both interdisciplinary and multilingual.
Its main objectives are:
1. The promotion of academic studies and research on gender and
women
through:
-The
organization of workshops on theories on “gender studies” and
“women studies”.
-The organization of study days on gender
and women issues.
2.
The establishment of cultural relations with other universities and
academic
institutions inside and outside Morocco.
3.
The creation of
a Gender and Women Studies library.
4. The creation of a Gender and Women Studies magazine for
students and
faculty.
5.
The creation of a graduate program on “Gender Studies”
at the university
of Fès, Morocco.
6.
The creation of a space for an exchange of points of view on gender and women issues in the Moroccan culture.
7.
The promotion of women’s presence in scientific research in the
Moroccan university.
8.
The promotion of comparative studies and inter-cultural dialogue
inside
and outside Morocco.
